This coming Thursday 15th November 2007 is Social Enterprise Day, an opportunity to highlight the importance the Voluntary Sector and Social Enterpises have in the general business community. It also forms part of the “Make your Mark – Change Lives” campaign to inspire young people to use enterprising ideas for social and environmental change.
During this week events will be held throughout Wales by Local Supplier Development project as well as local Council’s for Voluntary Services to celebrate this important day.
The Local Supplier Development Project in Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea has had a head start by holding a How to Tender workshop on 6th November specifically for the local Voluntary Sector in the Neath Port Talbot area.
Knowing what a busy week laid ahead for most of these organisations around Social Enterprise Day, the workshop was scheduled in conjunction with Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Services for the convenience of the local organisations.
Some key decision makers from local Social Enterprise Organisations attended and were provided with guidelines about the processes involved in tendering for public sector contacts as well as information about where to identify business opportunities.
The workshop was very well received by the attendees who all commented that it was a morning well spent. Mr Kirk Davies, Deputy CEO of Age Concern Neath Port Talbot said ‘Thank you for a very informative event today. It has certainly eradicated a lot of the worry associated with tendering for contracts.’
The Local Supplier Development Project will also be attending the forthcoming celebration of Social Enterprise Day - “A New Kind of Business – Delivering Services in a New Way” organised by Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service at the Orangery, Margam on Thursday 15th November.
