-Swansea Bay Woman of the Year 2007 Finalists Announced

The finalists have been announced for the Swansea Bay Woman of the Year Awards 2007.

These prestigious awards seek to recognise the achievements of women in the region and to promote winners who will be an inspiration to others.

Sarah Toomey, Bay in Business Event coordinator said “This year we have received more entries than ever before and competition has been extremely tough with the judges remarking on the high quality of entries and the difficulty they faced in selecting the winners.  The awards ceremony yet again promises to be a night of high emotions and excitement”.

 

The finalists (in alphabetical order) are as follows:

 

Business Award – Aimed at women who have successfully established and developed their own business.
• Sian Hindle, La Crème Patisserie & Catering Co.
• Lara Johnson, Lara Johnson Lifestyle.
• Mari Thomas, Mari Thomas.

 

Community Award - For women who make a significant contribution to their community, with a particular emphasis on volunteering.  
• Eiriol Lewis & Marianne Thomas, Fenlinfoel Senior Citizens Group.
• Hildergarde Roberts, CLP Group Penclawdd & Gower Voluntary Transport.
• Deris Williams, Menter Cwm Gwendraeth.

 

Management Award - Rewarding women who have demonstrated strong management and leadership skills in their role, in the public or private sector.
• Karen Jones, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
• Professor Andrea Liggins, Swansea Institute.
• Sue Richards, Age Concern, Swansea.

 

Technology Award - Targeted at women in business, education or the voluntary sector who make a significant impact within their organisation through the development, implementation, management or advancement of Technology.
• Eileen Lloyd, Timet UK Ltd.
• Katherine Prescott, Netsima Ltd.
• Susan Rodaway, Temporary Teachers.


Young Entrepreneur Award –  Recognising young women who have shown initiative and desire to successfully set up their own business.

• Donna Carless, Dynamic Rock
• Helen Rhiannon Gill, Helen Rhiannon.
• Sian Ridd, Molly’s Catering.

The winners will be revealed at a prestigious ceremony sponsored by John Collins & Partners LLP.  Hosted by BBC Wales’ Sara Edwards, the dinner and awards takes place at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea on Friday 30th November.
