FREE MANUFACTURING WORKSHOPS
A series of 4 FREE manufacturing Workshops for companies located in the Swansea Bay region (Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and Carmarthenshire). Presented by manufacturing professionals with direct industrial experience and aimed at businesses working within the manufacturing environment.
The Workshops are: · Effective Problems Solving Venue: Technium SA1 Waterfront, Swansea. Thursday 6th May 2010, 8.30am – 12.00pm. This workshop has a practical bias and introduces tried and tested approaches to resolving problems, explaining the tools and techniques needed to solve real life manufacturing challenges.
· Maximise the Efficiency of your Plant & Equipment Venue: Technium Performance Engineering, Llanelli. Tuesday 25th May 2010, 8.30am – 12.00pm. It is important that companies make the most of the resources they already have and invest wisely for the future. But are they currently maximising their manufacturing plant & equipment? This workshop will help companies understand the 4 key dimensions of shop-floor productivity, identify priority improvement issues for plant and equipment, and understand the role of systematic ‘performance management’.
· Supplying & Buying Venue: ECM2, Port Talbot.Tuesday 22nd June 2010, 8.30am – 12.00pm Identifying the right suppliers that provide the required performance to support an effective supply chain is a key element to a successful business. This workshop introduces tried and tested approaches to identify, select and appraise suppliers.
· Exploring New Markets Venue: Technium SA1 Waterfront, Swansea. Thursday 8th July 2010, 8.30am – 12.00pm Many of today’s successful companies did not start out in the sector they now service. This workshop explores ways in which companies can review their own knowledge bank and manufacturing expertise in order to help in the diversification decision making process.
At the end of each workshop Jeannette McLellan, Tax Partner of Bevan & Buckland Accountants, will provide an overview of the advantages to be gained from claiming research and development tax credits. The talk will also provide companies with information on who can claim the relief and details of the type of expenditure that can be included within the claim.
